Journey

Let us go together.
It's what we both
want.
But let it be because
I will, and not because
you want.
Do not chide, and chivvy me
like some demented
working dog,
compelled to herd all sheep before him.
Nor poke and prod, superior
as some pale sinner's ancient
angry God.
Compelled, I must resist,
and prodded, stall.
I am not sheep, nor sinner
All alone I can
be brave, be strong:
with you, and without trust
all that I must is be, not go.
So let me be. So trust
and let me grow trustworthy.
Then let us go
together.
