DELTA Q LABORATORIES

DELTA Q LABORATORIES was started in the fall of 1981 to provide expertise in high temperature technology to the research and development community and to those industries which find it necessary to use high temperature processing. Since then we have served as supplier and consultant to companies producing ceramics, crystals, optical fibers, glass products, and special high temperature furnaces.

The founder of DELTA Q LABORATORIES, Dale W. Rice, holds a Ph. D.in physical chemistry from MIT and has spent the past 40 years working in areas utilizing high temperature techniques: first as a research chemist at Corning Glass Works, then as Technical Director for Centorr Associates, Inc., and most recently, Technical Director for Beaumac Company, Inc. At Corning his active research interests spanned glass chemistry, ceramics, and crystal growth. He is the author of several patents covering high temperature processes and related equipment. While at Centorr Associates he was responsible for the design and development of new products and for ensuring that custom furnace designs met the specific requirements of each customer's process. At Beaumac Company he developed special designs and materials for graphite furnace hot zones in addition to advising customers on high temperature materials issues.

DELTA Q LABORATORIES' facilities, which include state of the art computional ability, are oriented toward developing new approaches to furnace and furnace hot-zone design. Emphasis has been placed on the development of material property measurement tools, computer hot-zone modeling, and furnace performance measurement techniques as design aids.
