This is an unauthorized fan translation.  The original work is copyright 1994 by Hayao MIYAZAKI, Model Graphix/Dai Nippon Kaiga, and/or other appropriate copyright holders.

The purpose of this translation is primarily as a resource for learning the Japanese language.  Thus, the format of the translation resembles to some extent the format used in the now-defunct magazine Mangajin.  Each line of the manga's text appears here in three forms: the original Japanese kana/kanji script; a Romanized version of the Japanese script; and the English translation.  In order to view the kana/kanji script, your browser must have Japanese font support installed, or you can use Shodouka to view the Japanese text as images.

NJX versions of all three episodes (last modified 29 August 1999) are available, collected into a single Zip file.  The NJX versions have furigana for the kanji, but requires the NJStar Japanese word processor for viewing.  Note that the NJX versions may not contain the latest updates to the English translation.
