  Even though the Soviet army has 5000 tanks, if they scattered the tanks all over the Kantou region, the tanks should be almost invisible.

戦場とは、集まる所には 戦車も砲弾も、惨禍も集中するが、隙間は 必ずある。
Senjou to wa, atsumaru tokoro ni wa sensha mo houdan mo, sanka mo shuuchuu suru ga, sukima wa kanarazu aru.
  A battlefield has a certain place where tanks, shells and terrible disasters gather, but also has clear open (quiet) areas.

[Note:  Kin-pika yarou literally means "a guy who glitters with gold."  This appears to be a cynical remark about an arrogant officer whose chest is covered with golden medals.]
