Russian shells impact close behind an ever-moving Carius.

何もない時でも ハエタタキは 相変らずだった。
Nanimo nai toki demo hae-tataki wa aikawarazu datta.
  Even when there was nothing (else happening), (the Russians) were swatting flies as usual.

動きつづけなければならない。
Ugoki tsuzukenakereba naranai.
  (Carius) had to keep moving.

「左の穴に 気を つけろ」
"Hidari no ana ni ki o tsukero"
  "Watch out for the hole on the left."

Russian tanks and troops attack with guns blazing!

  (the soldiers' shouts)

ロシア軍は 東と 西の袋の間のドイツ軍突出部へ 来襲した。
Roshia-gun wa higashi to nishi no fukuro no aida no Doitsu-gun tosshutsubu e raishuu shita.
  The Russian army invaded the German army's protrusion point between the East and West Sacks.

[Panel 3]

German troops and Carius's Tiger respond in kind to the Russian attack.  Smoke and flame surround Carius as he escapes Russian artillery fire yet again.

  4 PM

カリウス小隊が かけつけ Ｔ―３４ ６、Ｔ―６０ １   ＰＡＫ １を 撃破。
Kariusu-shoutai ga kaketsuke T-34 6, T-60 1 PAK 1 o gekiha.
  Carius's platoon rushes there and destroys 6 T-34s, 1 T-60, and 1 PAK.

しかし、突出部は ロシア軍のものと なる。
Shikashi, tosshutsubu wa Roshia-gun no mono to naru.
  However, the protrusion point becomes the Russian army's territory.

[Panel 4]

The Tigers of Carius and Kerscher(?) approach Ruin 2 as it comes under heavy Russian attack.

Gogo 5-ji
  5 PM

そこへ 廃虚２より 緊急無電。
Soko e haikyo 2 yori kinkyuu-muden.
  What was worse, an emergency radio call came from Ruin 2.

そこにも ロシア戦車が 来た。
Soko ni mo Roshia sensha ga kita.
  Russian tanks also came there.

すぐさま とって返す。
Sugusama tottekaesu.
  (Carius) hurries back immediately.

A destroyed Russian T-34 in the foreground takes up residence in a ditch, while another sits motionless, belching smoke and flames.  (Good work, Carius!!)

T-34 2-ryou o gekiha.
  (Carius) destroyed 2 T-34s.

歩兵を 追い払いすぐ又もどった
Hohei o oiharai sugu mata modotta
  He chased away the infantrymen, and returned again soon.

[Panel 6]

Major Haase, gun at the ready, leads the attack on foot.  German infantrymen follow him, as does a shocked Carius in his tank.

  6 PM

ハーゼの反撃を 援護した。
Haaze no hangeki o engo shita.
  (Carius) backed up Haase's counterattack.

ハーゼは、連隊長みずから 突撃の先頭に 立って カリウスを � ﾑっくりさせた。
Haaze wa, rentaichou mizukara totsugeki no sentou ni tatte Kariusu o bikkuri saseta.
  Haase, leading the assault himself as regimental commander, surprised Carius.

From his vantage point atop the commander's cupola, Carius waves to a grateful German soldier amongst the many scattered about in foxholes.

突出部を とりもどした。

  (The Germans) retook the protrusion point.

[Panel 8]

Against a blackened sky, the Tigers of Carius and Kerscher(?) sit silent.

  (Carius) waits for orders beside Ruin 1, and sleeps a little.

Carius's head barely protrudes from the confines of the commander's cupola.

Carius converses with another soldier (Kerscher?) as he sips from a cup.

この日は、その後ずーっと静かだった。

  After that, it was quiet all day.

  In this situation, the tank cannon is no use.
