German soldiers in the foreground hug the earth as a Tiger tank moves off, firing away while narrowly escaping exploding Russian artillery shells.

SFX:
ガーン  ズバッ  ズーン
Ga-n        zuba         zu-n
  (sounds of explosion and shooting)

「戦車が 後退します!!」
"Sensha ga koutai shimasu!!"
  "The tank is retreating!!"

「動くな  ふせろ!」

[Panel 2]

A Tiger tank and German infantry rapidly advance on the Russian positions.

ケルシャーの方は うまくいった。
Kerushaa no hou wa umaku itta.
  Kerscher's part went well.

カリウスが PAKを ひきつけていた上に、廃虚2には PAKが いなl ゥったのだ。
Kariusu ga PAK o hikitsukete ita ue ni, haikyo 2 ni wa PAK ga inakatta no da.
  Besides Carius drawing (fire from) the PAKs, there were no PAKs at Ruin 2.

  Hurrah    hurrah  (the soldiers' shouts)

[Panel 3]

While communicating with Kerscher via radio, Carius grimaces inside his tank as it is rocked by several direct hits.  Kerscher's dialog bubble contains an illustration of an apple, while the dialog bubble of the responding Carius contains a worm-infested pear.  (In his book, Carius writes that he hated to use codewords like these, and was often admonished by his direct superior Lt. von Schiller for transmitting in the clear.)

「こちらケルシャー  リンゴは 食べた  リンゴは 食べた」
"Kochira Kerushaa         Ringo wa tabeta        Ringo wa tabeta"
  "This is Kerscher.  We ate the apple.  We ate the apple."

「こちらカリウス  ナシは 虫くいだ    虫だらけっ」
"Kochira Kariusu       Nashi wa mushikui da   Mushi-darake"
  "This is Carius.  The pear is worm-eaten.  Full of worms."

A Tiger tank lets off a salvo.

A shell impacts near a tank.  Whose could it be?

A Tiger tank lets off another salvo.

A German soldier, arm raised, signals to advance.

Miyazaki -- pajama-clad, and with his snout on the table and sweat on his brow -- now seemingly has transformed from a crybaby into a crotchety old swine. ^_^

「ワーッ  かえってめんどうだ」
"Waa           Kaette mendou da"
  "Wow.  This is is rather troublesome."

Viewed from the rear, a Tiger tank fires.

3輌の虎の集中砲火

  (sounds of shooting)

PAKは 沈黙した。
PAK wa chinmoku shita.
  The PAKs fell silent.

再び 前進開始。
Futatabi zenshin-kaishi.
  (The Tigers) started to advance again.


[Panel 6]

Carius pokes his head out the commander's cupola.  His eyes widen at what he sees.


[Panel 7]

A Russian tank approaches.  The burned-out hulks of two less fortunate Russian tanks lie in its path.

SFX:

Kyarakyara
  (sound of a tank)

「11時に 戦車!!」
"11-ji ni sensha!!"
  "Tank at 11 o'clock!!"


[Panel 8]

In the dark confines of Carius's tank, cannon shells and food fly.

「徹甲弾こめっ  いそげ!」
"Tekkoudan kome   Isoge!"
  "Load an armor-piercing shell.  Hurry!"

「ワーッ  どれだ!?」
"Waa           Dore da!?"
  "Waa... which one is it?!"

まっくらなのだ。
Makkura nano da.

[Panel 9]

We look down the gun barrel of the Russian tank.

SFX:
ピタ
Pita
  (stopped exactly facing Carius)


[Panel 10]

The face of Carius's tank driver is illuminated through his viewport by the muzzle flash of the Russian tank as it fires.

「後退! かわせっ」
"Koutai!  Kawase"
  "Retreat!  Dodge it."

SFX:
ピカ
Pika
  (sound of a shot)

「ウった」
"Utta"
  "They fired."

いちばんイヤなのは ドライバーだ。よくみえるから...
Ichiban iya nano wa doraibaa da.  Yoku mieru kara...
  The most uncomfortable one is the driver.  Because he can see well....


[Panel 11]

Carius's Tiger takes a direct hit on its front left quarter.

SFX:
クワァーン
Kuwaa-n
  (sound of the tank being hit)


[Panel 12]

The tank driver winces as he absorbs the shock of the blast.

SFX:
ギン
Gin
  (shock)

直角に 近い被弾は、すさまじいショックに なる。
Chokkaku ni chikai hidan wa, susamajii shokku ni naru.
  Being shot at a near right angle turns into a terrible shock.


[Panel 13]

Pictured are the exhaust pipes of Carius's Tiger.

「エンストだ!!」
"Ensuto da!!"
  "The engine stopped!!"

[Panel 14]

Fluid leaks around a large cylindrical object (a shell fragment?) embedded in the tank's armor.

  (sound of something leaking)


[Panel 15]

As the gunner tries to take aim, he frantically rotates a wheel, attempting to move the disabled turret.

「砲塔手動!! おちつけ」
"Houtou shudou!!  Ochitsuke"
  "(Operate) the gun turret manually!!  Calm down."

SFX:
キリキリ
Kirikiri
  (sound of spinning)

次こそ最終回だ! 本当だぞ!
Tsugi koso saishuukai da!  Hontou da zo!
