A lone German soldier in winter camouflage approaches on foot at breakneck speed.  A cluster of log buildings is visible in the distance.

The soldier stops next to a Tiger tank and points in the direction of his discovery.  Carius, who is perched atop the tank, listens intently.

「狙撃兵が かくれています。ぼ、ぼくが 見つけました。
  "Sogeki-hei ga kakurete imasu.  Bo, boku ga mitsukemashita.
    "Snipers are hiding.  I-I found them.

　モ、モミの木の上です。」
   Mo, moni no ki no ue desu."
     In the t-treetops."

Carius prepares to move out.  Thick clouds of diesel exhaust envelope the two Tiger tanks.

Three Russian snipers positioned high in a tree observe the Tiger's movements.

「虎が 来る！！」
  "Tora ga kuru!!"
    "The Tigers are coming!!"

「目標 十字路、うてェ。」
  "Mokuhyou juujiro, utee."
    "Target the crossroads, shoot."

[Panel 5]

A Tiger tank at full throttle hurtles past farmhouses in the background.

４０ｋｍで すっとばす。そのために 地面を しらべて おいたのだ。
40 km de suttobasu.  Sono tame ni jimen o shiragete oita no da.
  The Tigers hurried at 40 km/hr.  That's why Carius had checked out the ground.

The Russian snipers are dismayed by what they see through their binoculars.

「ウワッ、速い！」
  "Uwa, hayai!"
    "Ugh, they are fast!"

  "!?"

[Panel 7]

The two Tiger tanks approach a farmhouse through an open field.

Carius brings his guns to bear on his prey.

The Russian snipers brace themselves for the attack.

    "Ah, we are discovered!!"

Small arms fire strikes the turret hatch just as Carius ducks back into the tank.  Sparks fly!!

Russian artillery falls far short of the mark in an open field as Carius escapes, using farmhouses as cover.

一度始まると、しばらくやまないのが ロシアの砲撃なのだ。

Two German soldiers bear witness to the battle just fought.

こうして タイガー 伝説は 作られていくのだった。
Koushite taigaa densetsu wa tsukurarete iku no datta.
  This is how the legend of the Tiger was made.

    "Amazing, isn't it?"

「虎ってカッコイイ。」
