Sad Soul
By Sister Simplice

A heaving sigh escaped her small frame.
A glistening tear made a path down her cheek,
Soon another one came.

She love him.
She had tried to fight her feelings,
But her chances of winning were slim.

The words she wanted to say, she could not utter.
She knew he didn’t feel the same.
He loved another.

He would never know the pain
That she felt as his hand entwined with another petite one.
Her heart was like a shattered window-pane.

She picked up the pieces of her broken heart
Unable to fix it
One word from him and it would fall apart.

Still she would continue the internal war,
Already knowing the sad outcome.
Always wishing that there could be something more.
