- About the NNEUUG Email Lists
The Northern New England UNIX User Group will meet twice at the end of July,
once over IRC and once in person. The IRC meeting will take place on the
night of Monday, July 25, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM (EDT). We may try some
experiments in having a moderated discussion. Look for the #nneuug channel.
The in-person meeting will take place on the night of Wednesday, July 27,
again at 7:30 PM. We will meet in Filene Auditorium on the campus of
Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. Representatives of the Upper Valley
Community Network will describe their new project to rationalize Internet
access in the region around Dartmouth. People involved in other Community
Networks, FreeNets, IAPs, and other on-line services are encouraged to
attend to compare notes and look for synergies.
New Hampshirites, mark your calendars for OCTOBER 4! On that day, there
will be an all-day conference and tradeshow for NH-based software
developers, organized by the Governor's Technology Partnership. I realize
that it overlaps with the first day of the UNIX Expo in NYC, but this is
for all kinds of software and it's big enough to present difficulties in
booking facilities. The convention will be held at the Sheraton-Tara in
Nashua, and more details will emerge over the next couple months.
Recently,
Pete Schmitt and I have severely constrained the traffic on
nneuug@dartmouth.edu to be responsive to some complaints. Dartmouth
has set up majordomo for all its E-mail lists, and we plan to use that
opportunity to set up another list, probably called nneuug-discuss, which
will reflect/echo everybody's E-mail and thus have higher traffic. If you
have suggestions about moderation of lists or additional lists, please
send them to nneuug-contact@dartmouth.edu, the E-mail alias for group
administration. You will all be automatically subscribed to the new
low-traffic list and the rest is still being worked out.
