On-Field Uniform

The following apparel items are mandatory. Every official is expected to have these items available at each assignment. The Referee shall make the final decision regarding the official game uniform.

SHIRT

Standard black and white knit, one-inch vertically striped Long and Short sleeve shirts with pocket on the left breast, complete with knit black Byron collar and black cuffs. Members shall wear the NHLOA approved emblem on the left sleeve according to the specifications. All members of each crew must wear the same style shirt. NUMBERS ARE PROHIBITED.

SHORTS

Standard white, polyester coaches’ style shorts with tunnel loops and elastic waistband. The inseam should be a length appropriate to adequately cover the thigh, but not too long as to cover the kneecap. Compression shorts, when worn, shall not show from beneath the shorts.

STOCKINGS

Official NCAA, one-piece socks shall be worn with shorts.

SHOES AND BELT

Black shoes with black laces and appropriate soles or cleats. Black belt, unadorned buckle, with a width no less than 1 ¼" and no more than 2" shall be worn.

CAPS

Brooklyn style, sized (non-adjustable recommended), solid black cap with white piping (without emblem or numbers) shall be worn by all officials.

JACKETS

Standard black and white poly, one-inch vertically striped jackets with knit black Byron collar and black cuffs. Jackets reversing to all black may be worn (during pre-game and intermissions, not during game) if done by the whole officiating team. Numbers or emblems should not be on the jacket.

Optional Uniform:

UNDERSHIRTS / TURTLENECKS

All undershirts or turtlenecks which show shall be black.

GLOVES

Cold weather gloves, when worn, shall be black and/or white.

Mandatory auxiliary equipment:

WHISTLE

Finger-style whistle shall be used (strongly recommend FOX 40 style). A back-up whistle should be carried.

FOUL MARKER

Standard gold foul marker shall be used. 2 Markers should be carried inconspicuously.

WATCH

Wrist style, stopwatch with countdown feature shall be worn.

INFORMATION CARD

An information card and pencil, to record pertinent game data such as coin toss results, captains/coaches names, shall be carried.

Dress – To and From Varsity Games

In order to uphold the well-respected, professional image of the New Hampshire Lacrosse Officials Association, members are required to wear appropriate clothing to and from the game sites of a varsity assignment.  Exceptions to this policy may be made when dressing room conditions or game site locations, dressing room locations make it impractical to comply. Such exceptions must be approved in advance by the Commissioner and should be noted on the crew’s post-game report.
