Writing Web Pages This area presents some pointers to information about how to write web pages.

In general, Web pages are written in a language called HTML -- the hypertext markup language. See the references below for some starting information about HTML.

A person on the Internet who accesses your home page can ask for a specific HTML document, e.g., a reference to:

    http://www.mv.com/users/mem/music.html

would fetch a document named 'music.html' from the /users/mem home page on mv.com. However, most readers will not specify a particular document. In this case, e.g. via a reference to:
    http://www.mv.com/users/mem

a document named 'index.html' will be returned. Thus, to properly build your home page, you should have a file named 'index.html' which is the default document for your home page.

One quick way to start is to look at the sample index.html file that is provided for you when you create your homepage at MV.
