Possible changes in your configuration
UUCP accounts that connect to Dover, Concord, and Peterborough
will be moved to the main UUCP server on Monday, May 27 1996,
during the evening. This should only take a couple of hours.
Last fall, most of the UUCP accounts were moved to the main UUCP
server. We are going to (finally) complete these moves by
moving all UUCP accounts based in Concord, Dover, and Peterborough
to this server too.
If you are properly configured, you should not have to make any
change. But these are the things you should watch out for (note
that these reminders were emailed to all UUCP accounts last fall,
and that these are simply restatements of the correct configurations):
- Make sure that your chat script logs in with the correct name.
For example, if you call the Litchfield area, the initial login (at
the Connect prompt) should be "uucp" and NOT "mv" . Similarly, if you
are dialing into Dover, the login should be "uucp-dnh" and not "dover"
or another name. This has always been the case, but we have found
that some sites have logged in with a system name instead of the
proper UUCP name. Basically if your first login starts with "uucp"
then you are configured correctly; if it is anything else, you are not.
- If you are using the server for ufeed requests, please send the
requests to the "uucp" system name that you log in with above. e.g.
in Dover, send to "server@uucp-dnh.mv.net" -- not to
"server@jade.mv.net" . In Peterborough, send to
"server@uucp-pnh.mv.net," and in Concord, send to
"server@uucp-cnh.mv.net"
Downtime
You may get some login failures while the accounts are being
moved.
