Shell users at mv.mv.com:

The news server for shell accounts at mv.mv.com was switched from quartz to zircon on June 9 as scheduled. (Note that this will not affect shell users who were moved to from jade, granite, and gold).

Because of this change, the news article numbers are now different than they were for those of you who are affected. This means that the record of which articles you've read is no longer valid. Most news reader programs will notice this change and will fix up this record for you, under a worst- case assumption that will mean you'll see some articles again that you've already seen.

If your news reader does not notice this change, or does not handle it correctly:

For any news reader that uses the .newsrc file (this includes trn and nn), run the program "fixnewsrc" . (just type fixnewsrc at the shell prompt). This will make a copy of your current .newsrc file and then build a new file with no record of articles read. Again, this means that you'll see some articles that you've seen before.

If we find other hints we'll put them here.
