In the early morning of June 19 (Tues/Wed night) both news servers will be brought down to add another news disk to each. This additional disk will be used for alt.binaries and other hierarchies with large data requirements. Ordinarily We'd prefer to wait until the customary Sunday maintenance period but the lack of space for the binaries hierarchies has come to a head.

The upgrade will start shortly after midnight. The news servers are likely to be down for a few hours in order to transfer the existing data to the new disk drives. We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause.
