As you may be aware, the Olympic torch is making its way across the
country. It entered Nashua, New Hampshire on Friday
June 14th around 8:45pm EDT. MV worked with area vendors in a CED (Center for Economic Development) and GNSEG (Greater Nashua Software Entrepreneurs Group) sponsored netcast of the event.
This netcast was the first of its kind in more ways than one, making NH "First in the Nation" again and again. We believe that not only was this be the first netcast of the Olympic torch on live CU-SeeMe, but it also was the first netcast using wireless networking equipment.
The event was netcast from outside of City Hall Plaza in Nashua, NH. TV13, a local cable television studio broacast and recorded for the city. White Pine Software, received a video feed from a TV13 camera at City Hall on an AST laptop computer. Through Proxim's wireless networking equipment, the data traveled from the base of City Hall to the third floor, where it was placed on another wireless transmission to MV Communication's Nashua hub, 1/4 mile away. From the Nashua hub, it was routed via a Frame Relay connection to MVC's main office housing one of the reflectors and connection to the Internet.
