Verifying local access numbers

Verifying local access numbers

It's your obligation to verify with your telephone company any charges (or lack thereof) that you will incur by calling one of our dialup numbers. MV makes no representation concerning telephone company charges.

While we are not an authority on telco charges, we can provide some hints and issues that you can use when talking to your telephone company. For example, our list of exchanges is one such hint: we would expect you to check in the phone book or with your telephone company to follow up on this hint.

Note that you may even get charged for local calls if that's part of your calling plan. Your phone company may have various calling plans each with different kinds of charges for local and toll calls.

One way to verify a phone number is to check in your phone book and see if it's listed as a local call for you.

Another is to call your telephone company and ask them specifically what charges will be incurred when you call a particular number. The access numbers in our primary and secondary groups are provided by a competitive local exchange carrier, but have local coverage when dialed from an appropriate Verizon number. However, if your telephone service is not provided by Verizon, e.g. if you are a customer of an Independent telephone company, these numbers are not likely to be part of your local calling area-- even if a call to an equivalent Verizon number is local to you.
