Susan LeClair Introduction and history of breeding program

A little history of myself with the Doberman Breed and my breeding program...

My name is Susan LeClair. I have owned Dobermans for close to 27 years and bred them for over 14 years. My first doberman was an American-bred dog out of champion lines. He was a great dog who, unfortunately, had health issues early in life, having been diagnosed with Woblers disease at the age of four at Tufts Veterinary Hospital/University. Living with not knowing when the disease would take his life was difficult.

My journey in choosing my next doberman was a long process. I decided to go with a German-bred dog and purchased Cora V. Haus Jagen Sch.BH, Wac. I was not ever disappointed with her temperament or working abilities. Her mother, Ali V. Westervelt, took the helper down at the National Event in VA years ago. Her father was a highly-campaigned Schutzhund dog imported in from Germany to live here in the U.S., where he made a wonderful contribution to the Doberman breeding programs here in the states. Cora was true to her parents, possessing those qualities that lived on through her and her offspring.

I then purchased my second German Doberman, Brutus V. Trajan (Ivan) TT, WAE. I traveled to Germany to obtain Ivan and his blood lines. Ivan was absolutely the most perfect dog I've ever owned. From the very beginning, he had the finest qualities and had lived his entire life as the apple of my eye. He was nearly 11 years old before passing away due to an injury. Both Ivan and cora were the foundation stock of my breeding program. Their blood lines are some of the finest in the world. Their pedigrees are proof of this statement. Health testing consistently confirms a sound breeding program with minimal health issues.

I am a proud Doberman owner and breeder; these dogs are members of my family that are adored by everyone. My only child--my son, Levi-- has adopted our dogs as his playmates. Every one of my dogs is good with him (or was). Some people say Dobermans are not good with children, and I can stand up and disagree. They can be the best dog any family ever owns. Knowledge in raising, socializing, and training, as with any dog, is the key. Seeking a school for dogs where dog trainers can assist in your education is what is helpful.

Eiko Von Haus Gebet of Swift run Sch.BH, AD is our current stud dog. A black and tan three-year-old dog, he is all European with dark rich pigment (markings) and good bone substance, he is currently training for his Schutzhund I. This male is very protective yet stable in his decisions. His favorite thing is to run with his girlfriends in a mowed 15-acre field. His endurance and agility is like no other dog I've owned. Structurely, he astounds me with his physical abiliites.

My girls Inga, Jaana, and Lexi are progeny of my breeding program. Throughout a year, I will usually have a litter from one of them.

Also, I am a proffesional dog trainer; I have a commercial facility separate from my home where I am happy to work with people's dogs. I train them for various reasons, including basic obedience, problem-solving, or off-leash companionship.

I welcome inquiries and am happy to provide more detailed information.

Sincerely,

Susan LeClair

I am currently affiliated with Schutzhund USA & The United Doberman Club Of America. Both of these organizations promote working abilities with title certifications. This helps confirm dogs of a clear mind and structural soundness. I have been a member of these organizations for over 12 years. As you review my pedigrees you will find breedings with Schutzhund accomplishments throughout the generations.
