Sheila Langdon Garrett
B.A. Art, Marlboro College;
M. Div, Peace Studies, Earlham School of Religion.

Sheila Garrett has over 35 years of teaching experience. Before coming to TMS, she was an art instructor in Vermont and Maine. She has also worked as a training facilitator and consultant for a number of organizations including AVP (Alternatives to Violence Project), AFSC (American Friends Service Committee), and as a professional gardener with Earthheart Gardeners. At TMS, Sheila serves as houseparent in Thomas House, on the Farm Committee and the Ministry and Counsel Committee. Her outside activities include walking, cross-country skiing and swimming.

Courses:  Farm and Garden, U.S. History from a Native American Perspective, Art, and Peace Studies.

 

Craig Jensen
B.A. Sociology, College of the Holy Cross.

Craig is a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta Intentional Sociology Honors Society. At TMS he is the Forum Coordinator and coordinates the Writing program. Craig is a house parent at Well House. He recently finished Bee School with the Worcester County Beekeepers and brought honeybees on campus.

Rimai Kalvaitis
B.A. in Education, Psychology and Biology, New England College.

Rimai continued post-graduate work in Biology at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Rimai brings his experience with Outward Bound to expand our outdoor education program, which includes backpacking and adventure trips. He is exercise coordinator as well as houseparenting in Bliss House with wife, Traceymay. Rimai most enjoys being in the forest with his two children.

Courses:  Creating Harmonious Space (reconstructing Bartlett Cabin), Algebra I

 

TraceyMay Kalvaitis
B.A. Science Education, East Carolina University.

The Kalvitis family, complete with mother, Frances, recently moved from the Hawaiian islands. Traceymay is a writer, educator and naturalist. Her passions stem from living and learning in community, creating a healthy life for family, and being inspired by endless possibilities.

Courses:  Culture and Personal Identity, Freshman/Sophomore Writing Seminar, and Health and Sexuality

 

Megan Lyzenga
B.A. Anthropology, Michigan University

Megan worked for several years as a baker at Zingerman's in Ann Arbor Michigan. She joined her sister at TMS where she coordinates the farm and bakes bread for the community. She is a talented artist, and loves to ride horses.

 

Frances H. May ("Huneygram")
Huneygram is our "grandmother in residence." She comes with over thirty years experience in hair and skin care and volunteers her services to students and faculty. She enjoy s photography and exploring life with her grandchildren.

 

Frederick Martin
B.A. Religion and Certificate in Teacher Preparation, Princeton University
M.Ed. Experiential Education, Harvard Graduate School of Education

Before coming to TMS, Frederick was a teacher and administrator at the Arthur Morgan School, an experiential Quaker boarding school in North Carolina. He presently serves the Religious Society of Friends as a coordinator of the middle-school program for the Friends General Conference national gathering. He also serves on the board of Pendle Hill, the Quaker study center in Pennsylvania, and the board of Kestrel Education Adventures, a small environmental education organization in Massachusetts. At TMS, Frederick is the Director of Admissions, college advisor, clerk of Faculty Meeting, and a houseparent in Red House. His extracurricular activities include sailing, backpacking and wandering through the woods looking for old trees.

Tom Morris (TMS, ’04)
After graduating from The Meeting School, Tom apprenticed with Hiroshi Hayashi at the Monadnock Institute of Natural Cooking and Philosophy. Tom delights the TMS community preparing lunch each day. He serves on the food committee. Tom loves any outdoor activity including basketcall, tennis, soccer, baseball and football.

Regina Rinaldo
B.A. English and Writing, Houghton College.

Prior to her time at TMS Regina worked with the school program at the BU Sargent Center. In addition to houseparenting, she serves on the Farm and Meeting of Scholars Committees. She enjoys singing and playing the guitar, writing and reading.

Chris Smith

 

David B. Smith
B.A. TV Broadcasting and Scenic Design, Franklin Pierce College

David is the Business Manager, Physical Plant Coordinator and Work/study Coordinator. He serves also on the Finance Committee and Physical Plant Committee. David, with his wife Chris, has three children: Nicole, Cassidy and Alexys.

Jacqueline Stillwell
B.A. Art Education, Skjeberg Folkehogskole
B.A. Psychology and Education, Friends World College, Long Island University
M.S. Organization and Management, Antioch New England Graduate School

Coming to TMS in 1989, Jackie’s background in education and service prepared her for the varied duties she performs here as the Head of School. She has lived in Guatemala, England, Norway, and the U.S. She has worked as a program director in education and life skills for varied populations: migrant and seasonal workers, seniors, teenagers and adults returning to work. Earlier in her career she was an organic vegetable farmer in Wisconsin. A lifelong Friend, she is a member of the Monadnock Monthly Meeting of Friends, and serves the Quaker community on several committees of both New England Yearly Meeting and Friends General Conference, regional and national Quaker groups. She is presently co-clerk of the Friends Organizations of New England. Jackie loves knitting, quilting, contradancing, cooking and caring for the three mostly grown young men she and partner Travis share.

 

Craig Waterman
B.A. Music, St. Mary’s College of Maryland,
M.A. Elementary Education, Teacher’s College, Columbia University.

Craig first arrived as a TMS faculty in 1999. He and his wife Elizabeth were married on campus in summer, 2004. Craig returned as full time Faculty after several years teaching at a local elementary school. He is the Dean of Students and teaches Math, house parents with his wife at Helios. Craig loves music, sports and strategy games.

Courses: Calculus, Algebra II, Musical Composition, Philosophy, and Foundations of Science.

 

Elizabeth Lyzenga Waterman
B.A. English, Bryn Mawr College
M.A. Spirituality, Earlham School of Religion

Elizabeth serves as the Curriculum Coordinator and Faculty Recording Clerk. She is a house parent with her husband Craig at Helios. She loves to knit, sing harmony and sit with her cat.

Courses: Junior Writing Seminar, Geometry, Poetry, and Literature.
