SPMUG 646  Delete Photos from an Album AND iPhoto 
iPhoto normally won't delete a
photo from its database if you select it in an Album and press the
"Delete" key -- it just removes it from the Album. But if you hold down
the "Option" and "Command" keys while pressing the "Delete" key, it will
delete the photo from iPhoto entirely.
