** Environmental Protection Award (1998) The Environmental Protection Agency has recognized Sterling Business Print & Mail as a leader in recycling, waste reduction and reuse of materials. The EPA is awarding the "Partners For Change" award to all employees of Sterling Business Print & Mail who actively participate in the conscientious environmentally safe and prudent production of printed materials. "Sterling Business Print & Mail is proof positive that a green economy translates into a good economy," said John P. DeVillars, administrator of EPA's New England Office. "We hope that others are inspired by businesses who take the initiative to implement environmental improvements while showing that they don't have to sacrifice their bottom line in doing so." In particular, Sterling Business Print & Mail was commended for recycling of: grades of paper, corrugated cardboard, chip board, inks, aluminum, and isopropynol. George Sterling admits that being environmentally conscious is more than just the right thing, it is more importantly a way to save money. "It's not the waste that's expensive, it's how you deal with it." ** Government Safety Award (2000) The Government Safety Award was for the State of New Hampshire congratulating the company for more than 3 years without a work lose time accident. ** Peterborough Recycling Day Guest Speaker (2001) George Sterling was asked to be a guest speaker and the Peterborough Recycling Day and spoke about how recycling contributed to the bottom line by becoming a profit rather than and expense for the business. ** Applied Government Award Waste Reduction (2002) Sterling Business Print & Mail received a certification from the Print-Step Program under the authorization from the EPA fro reducing waste streams in ink, isopropynol alcohol and photographic fixture.
