Introduction

This is an attempt to create a "timeline" by date for all known Bruce Springsteen CD "Brucelegs." In addition, all dates for CD "Bruceleg" bonus tracks and compilations are included as well. This listing is separated between studio demos-outtakes tracks found on CD "Brucelegs" and live performance tracks found on CD "Brucelegs." The listing is sorted by date and includes: the location, CD title, label abbreviation, and the number of tracks for a particular date found on the CD "Bruceleg." For each date, the CD "Brucelegs" are sorted descending by number of tracks, so the CD "Bruceleg" with the most tracks on a certain date is listed first. For the labels, I usually used the letters that begin the catalog number that appears on the CDs. If this "letter code" was unavailable, and the label is known, one was made up. To determine what the label name is, see the current CD "BRUCELEGS" LABELS LEGEND listing.

This is a companion to the BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN CD "BRUCELEGS" DISCOGRAPHY listing. Some will notice that not all the CD "Brucelegs" found in the other listing are included in this list. First of all, no "Counterfeits" or "Pirates" are included in this list (with the exception of certain 09/22/92 "MTV XXplugged" CD "Brucelegs"/tracks). Also there were many CD "Brucelegs" (especially some compilations) where the exact date of every track was unknown.

The information supplied in this listing originated from a variety of sources. In many cases these sources presented conflicting information. Some assumptions on my part were made to provide the information that was most likely to be correct. Some of the dates provided did not match the locations, and since I could not determine which were correct, I left them out so as to hopefully be included in a future update. Unfortunately, I was not able to gather 100% of the information to complete this listing, so there are many holes to be filled. In addition, as with any endeavor of this size and scope, there are bound to be many errors. Definitions

A "Bruceleg" refers to live and/or studio recordings performed by or in association with Bruce Springsteen that have never been officially released with the consent of the artist and/or the company(s) the artist is obligated to. A "CD Bruceleg" may contain items that have been officially released in other forms (45RPM, LP, Audio Tape, VHS, LaserDisc, etc.) but have never been officially released on compact disc.

A "Pirate" refers to the re-release of officially released product but is still distinguishable from an official release. A "CD Pirate" would contain tracks from officially released product, but does not use the same graphics/packaging as the officially released product. A "CD Pirate" can be beneficial to collectors as it may contain tracks previously released on limited edition promos, singles, etc. which are no longer in print and are difficult or expensive to acquire.

A "Counterfeit" refers to the re-release of officially released product with the sole intention of deceiving the buying public into thinking it actually is the officially released product. With the current availability of superior scanning and graphics software, laser printers or copiers, and if the audio content was mastered off the officially released CD, a "CD Counterfeit" is virtually indistinguishable from the officially released product.
