The Curriculum Enrichment Committee began as the Events Committee when Moharimet opened in 1989. A group of parents met "to provide experiences for children in the arts and sciences beyond the classroom." The idea was to provide a well-rounded series of programs including theater, literature, music, history, and sciences. Over the past five years, we have evolved into the Curriculum Enrichment Committee, which now includes teachers, parents, and the principal in a collaborative effort to plan experiences which connect in as many ways as possible to the curriculum and provide enriching activities for every child in the school. Some of the many programs we have sponsored are: Wildlife Ecologist Jim Parker, Poet Esther Buffler, Opera to Go, Colonial history with Ayriel, UNH Science Docents, the Enchanted Circle Theater, Storyteller Len Cabral, and Folk dancer Marianne Taylor, and the Kitchensink Mime Performers. The 1995-96 school year will feature Sarah Haskell, Master Weaver.
We welcome and encourage any parent who wishes to be involved with the rewarding and exciting project of weaving a tapestry to join us this year. It is a wonderful opportunity to share ideas with teachers and the principal and to take part in a truly collaborative effort between home and school for the benefit of our children.
