Notifying the Buyer: I send notifications within 24 hours. E-mail me if you don't get one. Please do NOT use eBay checkout, as the calculator sometimes overcharges on shipping. If you have purchased an item for more than $50, use checkout, and do not include insurance, then I assume that you're taking full responsiblity for items lost or broken in transit.
How You Should Pay: As per eBay's policy, I accept PayPal only. Repeat customers who have used other methods of payment should contact me if you need to find an alternative. I don't accept credit cards, BidPay, COD payments, direct transfers into my bank account, or payments via any method prohibited by eBay, including cash transfer services such as Western Union and MoneyGram. I require payment within 7 days. If I haven't received payment, I automatically file an unpaid item report, followed by a request for a final value fee credit.
Shipping Options: Under most circumstances, I try to give options for priority and economy shipping. Economy shipping for books, sound recordings, and sheet music will be media rate. Economy shipping for magazines, journals, yearbooks, annuals, buyer's guides, catalogs, most unbound printed matter, and just about anything with paid advertising will be parcel post.
Shipping Fees: For U.S. shipments, I charge the actual postage. I do not charge handling fees. All shipping options and costs are available under the Shipping and Payments tab on the listing page. Please note that the rates are automatically calculated by eBay and are not my numbers. I have no control over these costs and cannot offer lower shipping rates. I will combine multiple purchases for shipment when feasible. I try to offer a priority rate and an economy rate when it's practical. I might add a handling charge for overseas purchases, depending on the item. I ask the buyer to pay for insurance on items with a high bid of $50 or more. Insurance on items valued at less than $50 is optional. All USPS special-handling services are optional. Please let me know if you need a certificate of mailing, delivery confirmation, or other such service and I will send you an adjusted shipping cost. An important note: The post office does NOT provide any kind of tracking for regular mail. This means no proof of mailing, no proof of delivery, and no tracking number. After a package leaves my hands, it is in the system, and I have no way to know where it is or when it will arrive.
When I Ship: Upon receipt of your payment, within three work days.
How I Ship: I used the U.S. Postal Service only. All items are packed so that they are protected against normal postal handling. Most books are packed in boxes with packing peanuts or bubble wrap. Thin volumes and ephemera are mailed in envelopes with stiffeners. Records are mailed in industry-standard cardboard mailers. Postcards are mailed in plastic sleeves and with cardboard protectors.
Local Pickups: Sorry, I can't accommodate local pick-ups unless I specifically offer the option in the listing. If you live close to me, please be prepared to complete the transaction through the mail.
What to Do if You're Unhappy with Your Purchase: Return it within 30 days for a full refund. I do not issue partial refunds.
How I Grade Items: As candidly and conservatively as possible. Click here for details.
Overseas Buyers: A few notes especially for you. Click here for details.
Feedback: I will leave feedback on request if you e-mail me after you get your package.
Closing Auctions Early: Under no circumstances will I close an auction early to facilitate a private sale, so please don't ask me to do so. It's unfair to bidders who have bookmarked the auction with the intent of bidding later. I also won't add a Buy It Now option to an auction after the auction has begun.
Photocopying Services: I sometimes get requests from people to photocopy material from books, brochures, magazines, sheet music, and other printed ephemera. Sorry--I don't have the time to honor such requests, nor do I have ready access to a photocopy machine. Also, I will not distribute in any way, shape, or form original hand-written material (such as diaries or genealogical records) or rare documents. The buyer of the material purchases the right to decide how the information will be used or distributed.
