Sons of the Wind Farm, Deerfield, NH
by Claudia Beaudet, CVT - Equine Journal, April, 1999
I found Vitor one of the most intriguing and dedicated horsemen that I have ever had the pleasure to interview. The legend of the Lusitano is very much alive in Vitors lifelong passion for the Lusitano horse and is evident in all aspects of the Sons of the Wind farm.
Visiting Vitor Silva and His Lusitanos
by Leslie Woods, The Horses Maine, March, 1999
Vitor rode the young horse with more trot and canter work. He showed that even a youngster can perform lateral work such as half pass and can do flying changes, but the rider allows the horse more room for mistakes, for less dramatic leg crossing, for more space for the change. It was easy to see from the first finished horse to the youngster how Vitor was a trainer whose philosophy is to ask but then allow the horse to perform.

Horsemens Yankee Pedlar, May, 1998
According to Vitor, these horses are not only superlative in the dressage arena, but also in reining, show jumping (John Whittaker of England successfully campaigned Novilheiro, his jumping Lusitano, to many distinguished wins worldwide), eventing, and simple pleasure riding.

Vitor is always eager to demonstrate to visitors the meaning of that enjoyment, offering them a chance to both watch his horses in action and experience their skills firsthand from the saddle. During one of my visits, Vitor graciously provided me with the privilege of riding Trovador, which proved to be one of the highlights of my winter season. |
