The Battle of Sherrifmuir....
According to the Michelin guide for Scotland:
The Jacobite uprisings of 1715 and 1745 aiming to restore the Stuarts to their throne reflected in some measure the discontent of post-Union (1707) Scotland... John, 11th Earl of Mar, raised the standard at Braemar in the summer of 1715. The rising ended at the indecisive Battle of Sheriffmuir. James VIII or the Old Pretender (1688-1766) not only arrived too late but also lacked the power to inspire his followers.
Be that as it may, Sheriffmuir is near Crieff, which is north of Glasgow and west of Perth.
Joann and I drove past the battleground, stopping long enough for me to pull out my shuttlepipes and play The Battle of Sherrifmuir, while Joann took some pictures. (Before anyone asks, yes, two spellings for Sheriffmuir.)
