The Rev. Robert H. Piller was installed on July 2, 1995. He is the 21st pastor to serve our congregation since its founding in 1895

 

Pastor was born in 1954 and grew up in New Jersey. He became a child of God through the sacrament of Holy Baptism at St. John Lutheran Church in Newark, NJ, and confirmed his faith through the Rite of Confirmation in 1968 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Howell, NJ.

 

After graduating from High School in 1972, Pastor attended Concordia College in Bronxville, NY. He graduated from there in 1976 with a BA in Education, with a concentration in Social Studies. He was certified by the state of New York to teach Elementary and Junior High School. He also received a Lutheran Teacher's Diploma from Concordia, and was certified by the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod as a Lutheran School teacher. Prior to entering the seminary and the pastoral ministry, Pastor was a teacher at St. Paul, Hilton, NY; Trinity, Delray Beach, FL; and St. Paul, North Tonawanda, NY.

 

Pastor's seminary education was received at Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. He graduated in 1986 with a Master of Divinity degree after having served his vicarage at Concordia Lutheran Church in Springfield, IL. His first call in the pastoral ministry was to Bethany Lutheran Church in Charlevoix, MI, a congregation on the shore of Lake Michigan in the northern lower peninsula. In 1990, after serving Bethany for 4 years, he was installed as Associate Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Batavia, NY, a congregation in upstate NY. He served there for 5 years prior to accepting the call to Immanuel.

 

Since 1997 he has served as Circuit Counselor for Circuit #1 (the Northeast Circuit) of the New England District, and has served as a volunteer in various community groups and organizations. Pastor and his wife Vicky were married in 1979, and they have three daughters.
