, Mary Cass, cousin to Governor Lewis Cass. He was
intelligent, amiable, and brave. He died January 28th, 1836, aged
60 years, 10 months, and 24 days. He has a beautiful monument in
Mound Cemetery, Marietta, Ohio.
[ The following appeared in the Memphis Enquirer on Friday, July 26th, 1839:
"Married – On Tuesday evening last by the Rev. Philip W. ALSTON, Dr. Solon BORLAND, editor of the “Western World”,
to Miss Eliza B. HART – all of this place."
The marriage license was obtained on July 23rd, 1839, with
J.W. McMahon shown as bondsman.
Eliza Borland is reported as dying shortly after marriage by Fay
Hempstead in "A Pictorial History of Arkansas: From the Earliest Times to the Year 1890," but no record of death is found. A child
may have been born, but died. There it is an "Eliz" in the 1840
census under "BORLON". Eliza did not accompany Solon when he went to Hot
Springs, Arkansas in 1842. No obituary or burial site for her,
or a child, is known.

2456. Henry W., born ; married December 15th, 1869, Mary C. Skinner, of Lagrange, Mo.
THOMAS HART, Lancaster, Ohio, youngest son of Dr. Josiah Hart, of
New Britain and Wethersfield, Conn., and subsequently of Marietta,
Ohio, and his first wife, Abigail (Sluman), of Stonington, born
December 14th, 1776, at Wethersfield, Conn.; married , 1800,
in Kentucky, Elizabeth, daughter of Robert McClelland, and his wife,
Margaret (Howe). They lived at Lancaster, Ohio, to which place they
removed in , where he was engaged in the mercantile business,
and where he died, March 13th, 1825, aged 48 years and 4 months.
