Welcome to the Amherst Land Trust

The Amherst Land Trust exists to encourage and facilitate the preservation of land for the benefit of the citizens of Amherst, New Hampshire and surrounding communities.

The Amherst Land Trust seeks to protect potentially developable land to preserve the rural aesthetic of our community, conserve natural resources, and reserve open space for active and passive recreation. We work with landowners desiring to preserve old family farms and forest lands, as well as those seeking to make charitable donations beneficial to both the environment and their own tax situations.

The Amherst Land Trust is a 501(c).3 Corporation, a private non-profit incorporated in the State of New Hampshire. The ALT is also a sponsoring member of the Land Trust Alliance, an organization that promotes land conservation by providing resources and leadership to over 1200 land trusts nationwide.
