If you want to learn more about the "Mister Two" you should visit:

This is my four-wheeled toy: a 1986 NA Toyota MR2. As you peruse the pictures (scroll down), you'll notice that my MR2 is stock. No annoyingly buzzy exaust, no tacky graphics, and no mind-numbingly loud stereo. I don't race this car, so expensive performance mods seem like a waste of money. I think the Toyota design team did a good job way back when - and I'm not about to second-guess them or pretend that my driving habits require more advanced racing hardware.

My MR2 is a daily driver, mainly used during those times when I don't need a large trunk and when then weather's too nasty to ride my motorcycle. Currently it has about 120,000 miles on it, and the last major repair I've had to do was to replace the entire exhaust (everything but the header - yes, the cat, too). No doubt about it - this is a used car and is not maintenance free. However, to make up for its age, it compensates wth features: it has (working) AC, a tilt-wheel, very comfy 8-way driver's seat, and cruise control. That, and it's just one heck of a fun car to drive!

For those of you who don't know what's so special about an MR2, let me explain. It's a two-seater sports car with the engine behind the passenger compartment, but in front of the rear axle (a mid-engined car). This gives the car amazing agility, thanks to the weight being split almost 50-50 between the front and rear wheels. This makes cornering feel like the car is on rails, and lateral acceleration is enough to make any passenger reach for something to hold. The down-side to this unique weight distribution, of course, is the fact that when the car loses traction, it tends to do so on all four wheels at once - an unwelcome reality that has sent many unprepared drivers and their MR2's skidding off into the trees (and perhaps the junk heap).

If you have any questions, or would just like to chat with a fellow MR2 owner, feel free to email me at "bickford@garbanzo.mv.com". I warn you, though: I don't have any parts to spare, and my car is not for sale!
