This Web site is a 100% non-profit endeavor. It was initially intended to contain information about a variety of environmental issues of interest to citizens of Manchester. At present, however, it is largely devoted to the preserve-development issue that concerns the Hackett Hill area in the city's northwest corner.
The New Hampshire Sierra Club, in particular the Merrimack Valley Group, has shown a special interest in the Hackett Hill controversy. The National Sierra Club web site describes the Sierra Club's overall goals and provides links to its state chapters.
I live in Manchester's Ward 3, Manchester's downtown ward, and teach Human Ecology courses for UMass-Lowell Online. I am a member of the NH Sierra Club (Merrimack Valley Group) and the NH Audubon Society and support the goals of The Conservation Law Foundation.
I welcome comments, suggestions or questions that concern the information presented on "The Manchester, NH Urban Open Space Web Site."
