THE NH SIERRA CLUB HOLDS ITS 2006 ANNUAL MEETING AT MASSABESIC CENTER OF AUDUBON

On Saturday, Oct 21, 2006, the NH Sierra Club held its annual meeting at the Massabesic Center of Audubon. The meeting featured presentations by NH's Congressional candidates. The participants were incumbent Congressman, Charles Bass and contender, Paul Hodes, running for District 2, and Carol Shea-Porter, running for District 1. The goal of the meeting was to have Sierra Club members become informed voters in the November, 2006 Congressional elections.

NH Sierra Club President, Aline Lotter and Staffer Kurt Ehrenberg (shown below) were instrumental in making arrangements for the event, which was attended by Sierra Club members from various parts of the state.

The candidates gave their positions on key environmental issues, such as Global Warming, Energy Conservation, Clean Water, Waste Management and Wildlife Protection. At the conclusion of each candidate's presentation, members of the audience questioned the candidates. The questions required the candidates to clarify or extend the viewpoints they had presented and to explain their outlook on various other environmentally-related topics.
