Discover the purposeful way of life practiced by the Shakers from the 1780's to today.

Shakers lived apart in self-contained communities from Maine to Kentucky. Within their villages they practiced equality of the sexes and races, common ownership of goods, celibacy and pacifism. They strove to make their villages an earthly heaven.

Finding Us

Canterbury Shaker Village is located 20 minutes north of Concord, NH. On I-93 take exit 18 and follow signs to the Village.

Admission

Admission fees support the preservation of the historic site and its collection. Groups of 20 or more are eligible for reduced rates with advance appointment.

Guided Tours

90-minute tours explore the historic buildings and bring the Shaker legacy to life. Dress comfortably!
The last tour is at 4 pm (3 pm in Apr, Nov & Dec).
