Siggy

SIGGY

I have a god-daughter named Bethany. She is a very special little girl who loves dolls. As most of you know, I don't make play dolls, so for a birthday gift this year I made her a "Siggy".

"Siggy" is a pattern owned by Soft Dolls and Animals, a Scott Publication. The pattern was published in their premier issue and each issue features updates on various things folks have done with "Siggy" and new clothing patterns for her. "Siggy" is a great pattern, I was really impressed with a play doll pattern that stands up on it's own. Kudos to the designers.

This "Siggy" is wearing purchased clothing and shoes. They fit very well and are perfect for a four year old to take off and put back on. Mom particularly loves this doll because of the hair. Several years ago when she was single, I was helping her move from one apartment to another. She had a box of yarn that came from her aunt. Now auntie wasn't very savvy about winding yarn and it was wound very tightly, thus making it of no use to just about anyone. But I was sure that I could find a use for it some day. (There's a reason I'm known in my house as the "Queen of Recycling"). Sure enough, twenty years later I discovered that it makes perfect doll hair. And it's thin enough to be combed, too.

So now Bethany has a keepsake made by her god-mother using yarn provided by her great aunt.

Happy Birthday, sweetheart!
