Dorothy is the centerpiece in the 'Follow the Yellow Brick Road" set, which
will consist of six characters: Dorothy, the Tin Woodsman, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow,
Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West.
As a child, the annual showing of "The Wizard of Oz" was a neighborhood event.
We all wanted to watch it on a color TV (we didn't have one), and for days afterwards
we re-enacted the story at play. These memories were all brought back to me
when Natale, my redheaded granddaughter, fell in love with the story at age 3.
Follow the Yellow Brick Road is a trip back to my childhood with her. It is a
wonderful story for children of all ages, both the book and the movie.
Dorothy is 11" tall wearing a blue gingham pinafore over a white cotton pintucked blouse.
She has pale blue anklets under her ruby red slippers that glitter and shine.
Blue silk ribbon bows hold her mohair braids in place. Her handmade picnic basket in her
arms, she calls for Toto who is hiding under her dress on the yellow brick road.
Dorothy has a fully needle modeled and hand painted face with sparkling brown eyes and a
full smile. She appears to have forgotten about the Wicked Witch of the West for the moment.
