Flooring Tips
- Take your time. Flooring is a long-term
investment. Make sure it's what you want to live with.
- Take a flooring sample home to see what it looks like
with your furniture, wall colors, and trim. Look at the sample
under different types of lighting: sunlight makes colors look
different than florescent lighting.
- Shop for quality as well as price. A better
material and tighter weave may cost more initially, but may save money
in the long run.
Additional Installation Tips:
- 3/4 inch plywood is not suitable for tile. An
additional subfloor must be used to achieve the proper rigidness.
Movement underfoot will cause tile to break and/or grout to crack.
- Vinyl should not be installed directly over existing
vinyl. The old vinyl may transfer curling or cracking onto the
new floor. Old vinyl should be removed or 1/4 inch underlayment
should be installed over existing flooring.
