Course Description

This course is designed to acquaint the student with special programs that will help one to work with the older adult who is returning to the classroom. Learning materials will be examined that can be used to meet the computer literacy needs of the returning learner. Classroom arrangements, classroom environment, and presentation methods will be discussed and demonstrated. When applied, this course will help the student produce superior results when working in the area of the "untrainables".

Course Objectives

Students will:

    1. Understand how to approach the teaching of technical information to the returning adult.
    2. Develop the ability to successfully teach those considered by government and industry to be "untrainable" because of their age.
    3. Learn to recognize text materials that will work successfully with the returning adult.
    4. Be able to successfully teach computer literacy courses to the illiterate who are afraid to take on computers because they lack understanding.
