His Highness, The Grand Duke, Demeris Lupette
The Grand Duke is a tall man with well-cut and distinctive short hair and very dark, serious eyes. His face seems chisled from stone, and his few smiles suggest that he is a man who places far more value in serious contemplation than in the relaxed atmosphere in which most nobles immerse themselves. His Highness, the Grand Duke usually wears Royal Blue to indicate his relationship with King Aelric XIV. While many people, nobles and peasants alike, attempt to emulate the Grand Duke's fashion, the shade of Royal Blue which he wears is unavailable to anyone not of royal blood. The dye used to make the Grand Duke's clothing is imported from Mythrandil, and is done so very carefully. Great Lords of Amalthion
Lord Enmon, Master of House Cerase Lord Enmon is a tall man, clean shaven and fair of both skin and hair. He is very charismatic and recognizes this fact, often waving to swooning women in his audience. He is dramatically handsome and extremely well spoken. He walks with a long, confident stride, accentuated by his jet-black boots, usually worn with a white outfit and diaphanous robes. Lord Enmon's House Colors are White and Silver, and he nearly always wears these colors. He can also be seen carrying a scimitar, with which he is very proficient. He is usually accompanied by his wife, Lady Enaria, an extremely beautiful woman with raven black hair and sapphire blue eyes, who often wears dresses which are as diaphanous and flowing as Lord Enmon's robes. Lord Enmon's estate is known primarily for its recently established gold mines, located along the western coast of Neriss and currently accessible only by ship. Lord Arum, Master of House Lyeed A connoisseur of anything with alcohol in it, Lord Arum is often mentioned in connection with inebriation. His eyes constantly hold the slight haze of drink, and he usually either carries wine, or has a servant following him with at least one bottle. His ice blue eyes seem out of place against his dark skin and equally dark hair and trimmed goatee, but his movements are quick and precise as though his education was acquired from the military. Lord Arum's House Colors are Red and Black, and he usually wears them in the form of a red shirt and black vest. His pants are more often black than not, though he has been known to wear extrememly dark red pants, nearly the color of blood. Lord Arum's estate is known for its vinyards, and he personally supplies the Grand Duke with almost all of his highness' domestic wine. Lord Cerlaw, Master of House Percery Lord Cerlaw is a gaunt, humorless-looking man with a perfectly trimmed moustache (so well-trimmed that it is considered masterwork). He generally stares down his nose at others, save for the Grand Duke, and gives the other greater nobles only grudging respect. His interlaced hands are often a sign of his contempt, and his guards are trained to react to his most minute gestures, so he need only move his hands slightly to have an interloper dealt with. Lord Cerlaw's colors are brown and gold, and he makes great use of the precious metal in his attire, often gilding his vests and robes and even wearing a sash woven from a golden material. He takes great pride in his appearance, and does not accept criticism from anyone, save for the Grand Duke. His estate, the third richest of the nobles' estates in Amalthion, is heavily involved in mercantilism and banking in Amalthion. In many cases, if something is bought in the nobles' section, some degree of the money goes to Lord Cerlaw's coffers. He works closely with the Grand Duke in matters of commerce, and there are rumors that the Grand Duke has offered to appoint Lord Cerlaw his Minister of Trade. Lord Halcor, Master of House Remnar Lord Halcor is a tall, bearded man with dark hair who walks with a significant limp, leaning heavily on a cane. His fierce gaze belies a gentle disposition, and he is known, among other things for his honesty. It is generally known that he once had a bride named Rachel who was killed by assassins who targetted Lord Halcor. No one knows what happened to the assassins, but Rachel was killed protecting their son, Drayden. Lord Halcor's colors are green and black, and he prefers darker, more serious color tones, seldom wearing yellow, red or purple. He is a serious-faced man whose smiles rarely meet his eyes, though careful scruiny might reveal that this is because the pain of losing his beloved Rachel runs deeper than he lets himself reveal. House Remnar's dealings are mainly with lumber taken both from the Grand Duke's forests and from the Forest of Silence, recently cleared of goblin and orc threats. Remnar also controls a small portion of the Feldric Wood trade in the north. Lord Estoru of House Skelstan Lord Estoru is a man of average height and weight who wears his grey-streaked hair slightly longer than the other nobles. He has a thick beard which bears streaks of grey which almost meet those at his temples. Lord Estoru is a coxcomb lord, wearing gaudy fashions and attempting to start new fads daily. He wears a bright yellow tunic and decorates his attire with peacock feathers and jewels. He almost always wears gloves and carries a wine goblet wherever he goes. His eyes tend to dart back and forth as though surveying every person and object, calculating the worth of each and comparing it to his own. Lord Estoru's colors are yellow and light green, though he often wears a plethora of colors to indicate his opulence. He also prides himself on his dueling ability. House Skelstan has a large shipping industry and many of the cargo vessels which land in the Nobles' Section docks bear the seal of House Skelstan. Lord Estoru prides himself on this, though there are rumors that he is in league with pirates. Lesser Lords of Amalthion
Lord Mosim of House Enwar; Tall, dark and not at all handsome, though he seems to believe that he is. Lady Batia of House Taskin; Extremely attractive, though not quite focused — her mind is elsewhere. Lord Ghadar of House Nalgis; Introverted and silent, but vehement advocate of life-long servitude of peasants to Nobles. Lord Kinel of House Ranos; Short, blonde man with big beard. Likes women just a little too much. Lord Charod of House Rynalt; Stands in one corner with a wine goblet watching everyone at once. Pantomimes drinking, but never does. Lord Kelden of House Toraugh; Huge man who looks like he's about to burst into a violent rage. Truly peaceful, but low in self esteem. Lady Maril of House Stridyn; Very old woman who looks like she should be knitting, not running a house, but EXTREMELY intelligent. Lord Samis of House Rebur; Arrogant to a fault. Believes that the Grand Duke is incompetent, but would never give voice to his opinion. Lady Delyr of House Turel; Gallantly beautiful brunette with creamy white skin. Unbeknownst to other nobles, she is a veritable harlot. Lord Atheno of House Nyshin; A celebrated hunter, he bears a grim look at all times as though he's expecting to die in five minutes. Lord Nyspol of House Loryl; Quick of wit and quicker of body, a mustachioed man who attracts ladies (especially Lady Delyr.) Lord Ardish of House Ahnqua; A collector of antiques. Most people believe that he is part of his own collection. He should have died by now. Lady Isaban of House Asomo-Sotour; Youngest of all (19), seems to be unsure of herself, but is actually a brilliant leader. |
